June 16 through July 14 - Clifton Forge School of Arts Barn Quilt Paintings Exhibit
An exhibit, BARN QUILT PAINTINGS, has opened at the Clifton Forge School of the Arts in Clifton Forge. The artist, Andrea Curry of Eagle Rock, presents a colorful assortment of geometric patterns and historical motifs on wood panels, ready for hanging. The medium is acrylic paint in two sizes: 2 feet by 2 feet and 4 feet by four feet, on primed wood panels, ready for indoor and outdoor display.
The public is invited to a MEET THE ARTIST reception next Saturday, June 16 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Gallery of the Clifton Forge School of the Arts, 518 Church Street, Clifton Forge. There is no charge. The exhibit is scheduled to run until July 14.
Ms. Curry followed her artist father's footsteps and studied painting in her native country, Germany, where she met and married an American soldier from Georgia, and emigrated to the United States. Her family now includes three children. She holds a position as part-time manager of a local Cracker Barrel restaurant.
Her love of painting, gardening and sewing inform her sense of color and feed her penchant for geometric precision.
Ms. Curry teaches the art of barn quilt painting at the School of the Arts. She is the creator of the whimsical fabric "tomte" characters that became popular at last year's seasonal event, KRISKINDLMARKT.
The School's summer hours of operation are: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and when classes or events are ongoing.
The summer schedule of classes has begun. Please call 540-862-7275 or visit www.cfsota.org for information on classes and events.
We will work on a service project for this meeting.
